"A Catholic Parish Family"
Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission. Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and the Word. It is named Baptism after the central rite by which it is carried out: to baptize (Greek baptizein) means to "plunge" or "immerse". The plunge into water symbolizes the catechumen’s burial into Christ’s death, and rising up by resurrection with him, as “a new creature” (CCC 1213-14).
How to Request the Sacrament
Are you interested in baptizing your newly born infant? If so, St. Joseph Catholic Church congratulates you on the birth and new member of your family. It is a praiseworthy practice that infants be baptized within the first few weeks or months after birth. The Sacrament of Baptism should be ministered in one's proper parish. Registered parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church may complete our BAPTISM REGISTRATION FORM, and submit it to the parish office. A member of our clergy will contact you to discuss planning and preparations. We will also invite you to participate in an educational BAPTISM SEMINAR. Please note, all information you provide will be transcribed into our parish baptismal records.
